Howard Brenton's play explores the troubled last days of the great poet Percy Bysshe Shelley. Opening only weeks after the September 11th attacks on New York, Synapse's production eerily spoke to the death in our own time of political, cultural and social idealism, and the withering of our faith in a better future.
