FEBRUARY 3
- MARCH 5
Thank you for joining us
at the Connelly Theater
In February and March 2006, Synapse tackled a topic
we all face but none of us likes to talk about: AGING.
What if you couldn't remember what
you thought you'd never forget?
Synapse presented the World Premiere of Barbara
Hammond's powerful new play Norman & Beatrice:
a Marriage in Two Acts, a humorous and moving
love story about a married couple facing the unpredictable
challenges of growing old together.
Norman is a charismatic retired civil servant and
a loving husband and grandfather. His devoted wife
Beatrice is his soul mate and, in the end, his salvation.
In a story spanning 50 years, and the onset of Norman's
Alzheimer's, this beautiful new play offers a compelling
glimpse into the many different chapters of their
marriage.
TALKBACKS -- Every Sunday Following the 3pm Matinee
Events coinciding with the production of Norman &
Beatrice included post show TalkBacks with the artistic
team and panel discussions with experts in the field
of dementia and Alzheimer's disease.
We all worry about Alzheimer's disease - for ourselves,
our friends, and our family members. We know that
the disease is progressive and irreversible, and that
the likelihood of having it increases as we age. Synapse
has assembled a group of eminent medical professionals
to discuss: What causes it? Can it be treated? What
research is going on? What public policy issues does
it raise? How can we manage it in ourselves or in
a loved one? Can we hope for a cure? Through our talkbacks
we intend to address these questions (and others)
so that we can help people develop a realistic view
of the disease and deepen awareness of its impact.
TalkBack Schedule
TalkBacks were free of charge and followed
