Fall 2004 Newsletter

Welcome!

Dedicated to clashing cultures, this is our most ambitious & high profile season yet! Provocative, witty & challenging, Season 5 will get people talking...

Over the last few months, Synapse has been abuzz with activity. Our plans to re-mount ANIMAL FARM Off-Broadway have been put on hold, but the good news is that we are going forward with our plans to tour the show around America in 2005!

As you know, the Synapse mission is to create provocative theatre that gets people talking. We plan to do just that in 2005 with the presentation of two new plays that look at clashing cultures. In February, Synapse will present the American premiere of Richard Bean’s THE GOD BOTHERERS at the brand new midtown arts complex at 59E59 Theaters. Written by one of England’s hottest playwrights, this new play took London by storm last fall; we are thrilled to be introducing Bean’s uniquely comic voice to New York.

In April, we will present THERE GOES THE NEIGHBORHOOD, a hilarious one-woman show that explores the idea of the urban melting pot by looking at the recent gentrification of Brooklyn through the eyes of ten very different characters.

Both plays offer theatrical experiences rich in ideas and ask some provocative questions, and we’re eager to hear what you have to say at our post-show TalkBacks.

We need your help to make this exciting season happen.  Soon you may be receiving our Annual Appeal letter via regular mail. I can’t stress enough how much we would appreciate your contribution.  Friends like you make a real difference in what we are able to achieve, and every dollar makes a difference.

Thank you!
