Every day, I think about how lucky I am to live in this amazing
city and to do a job I love, to have the chance to tell stories
that make a difference in people's lives, and to change the way
they think about this world we share.
With this incredible gift comes a responsibility- to serve the
highest calling of the Theatre as a cultural institution-to create
a forum for public debate and social inquiry and discourse.
The Orwell Project is almost here! In only a few short weeks,
Synapse's ambitious stage adaptations of George Orwell's ANIMAL
FARM and 1984 will open at The Connelly Theater. Our biggest undertaking
to date, these multi-media productions of Orwell's most enduring
works address many of the questions we are grappling with today:
issues of free speech, political protest, the use of propaganda,
the abuse of civil liberty, and the corrupting tendencies of influence
and power.
I can't wait to share them with you.
See you at the theater!
