Welcome!

Dear Friends,

For the last five years, Synapse has brought to life plays that engage with the issues that matter most. Our current season continues that tradition with a timely look at “clashing cultures” both at home—with our production of THERE GOES THE NEIGHBORHOOD in April—and abroad in the upcoming American Premiere of Richard Bean’s hilarious comedy THE GOD BOTHERERS.

What I love most about this play is its feverish comic energy—the laughs just keep on coming as Bean paints a vivid portrait of an ethnically-diverse community frantically modernizing as it descends into chaos. The four characters are all lovable misfits struggling to make a difference in the world while trying to preserve their sanity.

Who would have thought it possible to make a comedy about the clash of Western liberalism and Islamic fundamentalism? Bean succeeds brilliantly, as legions of London critics and audiences can attest. It is a great pleasure to have the opportunity to introduce his voice to New York.

We’re extremely grateful for your continuing support and we look forward to seeing you at the theatre this season.

Happy New Year!
